Bears to cut Hurd
The Bears will cut wide receiver Sam Hurd from the 53-man roster, general manager Jerry Angelo said Friday afternoon at Halas Hall.
Hurd faces federal drug charges after he was arrested Wednesday night after agreeing to buy large amounts of cocaine and marijuana to distribute in the Chicago area. Hurd thought that he was meeting with a drug supplier, but in fact he was meeting with an undercover drug agent.
In 12 games with the Bears, Hurd caught eight passes for 109 yards. He also registered eight tackles and a fumble recovery on special teams.
