In churches across McHenry County today, Christian leaders will celebrate the story of that holy night 2,000-plus years ago when a virgin mother gave birth to the son of God in a humble stable. The child – Jesus Christ – would, according to Christianity’s adherents, teach humanity about its Creator and bring an opportunity for salvation to all.

Charged with translating the Bible account into something meaningful for thousands who came to church Christmas Eve and who will line pews this morning are the area clergy.
