Bulaga out against Bears
Green Bay Packers right tackle Bryan Bulaga will miss this weekend's game against the Bears because of a knee injury, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday.
Bulaga, who grew up in Crystal Lake and attended Marian Central, injured his left knee during Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. An injury to the same knee forced Bulaga to miss two games earlier this season.
In Bulaga's place, T.J. Lang is expected to start at right tackle. Lang has spent most of the season at left guard, but the Packers were forced to improvise after Bulaga's primary backup, Derek Sherrod, broke his leg last week against the Chiefs.
McCarthy acknowledged that the Packers would be challenged by the Bears' defensive line, which is led by elite pass rusher Julius Peppers (10 sacks in 14 games).
"It's a challenge regardless of who you line up with," McCarthy said. "That's something we're focused on.
"Bryan has been playing extremely well for us, but injuries are a part of the game. This is an opportunity for T.J. Lang and [Evan] Dietrich-Smith to step up."
