CHICAGO (AP) – Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein says trade talk involving ace Matt Garza is overblown and still hopes to re-sign veteran reliever Kerry Wood.

Epstein says he would like to talk to Garza this weekend, with the team hosting its annual fan festival. On Wednesday, the executive was part of the "Cubs Caravan" event, interacting with fans at several stops in the city.

Chicago has been listening to offers for Garza, but Epstein insists there is "no attempt to shop him."

He made it clear he wants to retain Wood, adding that "if we can't figure this one out, something's wrong." Epstein had little to say about Starlin Castro, who is being investigated by Chicago police for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman last fall.
