Hodgson scores pair to lift Canucks
VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Cody Hodgson scored his second goal of the game with 4:17 left, and the Vancouver Canucks beat the San Jose Sharks, 4-3, on Saturday.
Ryan Kesler and David Booth also scored for Vancouver (29-15-4), which is 1-1-1 halfway through its six-game homestand.
Logan Couture scored a short-handed goal and added a power-play tally, and Dan Boyle also had a goal for the depleted Sharks (26-14-5), who were without top-six forwards Martin Havlat and Ryane Clowe.
Ducks 2, Senators 1: At Anaheim, Calif., Jonas Hiller made 31 saves, Corey Perry scored, and Lubomir Visnovsky was credited with a goal that Ottawa’s Erik Karlsson knocked into his own net.
Flyers 4, Devils 1: At Newark, N.J., Scott Hartnell scored two power-play goals, and Wayne Simmonds had a goal and two assists.
Rangers 3, Bruins 2 (OT): At Boston, Marian Gaborik scored twice, the second on a third-try backhander with 3.6 seconds left in overtime for New York.
Canadiens 3, Maple Leafs 1: At Toronto, Carey Price made 32 saves, and Rafael Diaz and Lars Eller scored third-period goals in the Montreal’s victory.
Red Wings 3, Blue Jackets 2 (SO): At Detroit, Valtteri Filppula scored in the fourth round of a shootout for Detroit.
Islanders 2, Hurricanes 1 (OT): At Uniondale, N.Y., John Tavares scored his second goal of the game 3:58 into overtime for New York.
Panthers 4, Jets 3 (SO): At Winnipeg, Manitoba, Kris Versteeg scored two goals and added an assist for Florida, which snapped an eight-game losing streak on the road with a shootout victory.
Blues 4, Sabres 2: At St. Louis, David Backes had two goals and two assists, and Jaroslav Halak made 19 saves to lift St. Louis.
Lightning 4, Coyotes 3: At Glendale, Ariz., Steven Stamkos scored his NHL-leading 32nd goal and Martin St. Louis and Steve Downie each had a goal and an assist for Tampa Bay.
