BLOOMINGTON (AP) — A central Illinois mother charged after her boyfriend allegedly killed her daughter has reached a tentative plea deal with prosecutors.

Candis Ethridge of Bloomington faces child endangerment charges after prosecutors say she shouldn't have left her 3-year-old daughter alone with David Gharrett

Gharrett is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Destiny Cox.

McLean County State's Attorney Ron Dozier tells the (Bloomington) Pantagraph that a plea offer will be presented in court on Feb. 10.

The deal spares the 25-year-old Ethridge any more jail time beyond the few weeks she spent in jail before posting bond. She would have to serve probation.

McLean County sheriff's police say witnesses have come forward accusing Gharrett of prior abuse that Etheridge was aware of.
