Local reps: Quinn needs to grasp state’s finances
McHenry County legislators called Gov. Pat Quinn divorced from Illinois’ harsh economic reality after listening to his annual State of the State address.
They said they came to the annual address Wednesday wanting to hear a governor admit to a state in financial crisis and present a bold plan to fix it. Instead, state Rep. Mike Tryon said, they heard a governor say everything is on the mend and present ideas for more spending.
“I actually walked in anticipating the governor to outline the issues our state faces financially and what kind of commitment needs to be made in a bipartisan fashion to solve these problems. That’s not at all what I heard,” said Tryon, R-Crystal Lake. “I heard a governor wanting to spend more money and provide tax credits to different parts of the population with money we don’t have.”
