No. 1 Wildcats freshman leads rout against Vols
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshman Anthony Davis had 18 points, eight rebounds and seven blocked shots as No. 1 Kentucky beat Tennessee, 69-44, on Tuesday night to extend the Wildcats’ home winning streak to 48 games.
Kentucky (22-1 overall, 8-0 Southeastern Conference) hit its first 11 shots over the opening 11 minutes as the Wildcats won their 14th straight overall in another dominating performance.
The Volunteers (10-12, 2-5) were led by Renaldo Woolridge, who hit a career-best five three-pointers and tied his career-high with 17 points.
Kentucky holds the nation’s longest home winning streak.
No. 15 Marquette 66, Seton Hall 59: At Milwaukee, Jae Crowder had 20 points and 12 rebounds to help Marquette rally from a sluggish first half.
Vander Blue scored 16 points and Darius Johnson-Odom added 14 for the Golden Eagles (19-4, 8-2 Big East), who extended their winning streak to seven games.
Herb Pope scored 16 points for the Pirates (15-7, 4-6), who have lost five straight.
No. 16 Virginia 65, Clemson 61: At Charlottesville, Va., Mike Scott scored 23 points, including four free throws over the final 16.8 seconds, and had 10 rebounds for Virginia.
Joe Harris added 19 points for Virginia (18-3, 5-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), which used a 19-3 second-half run to take command.
Devin Booker scored 16 points and Tanner Smith had 14 for the Tigers (11-10, 3-4).
No. 19 Wisconsin 52, Penn St. 46: At State College, Pa., Jordan Taylor scored 18 points, including a three-pointer from the top of key with 1:44 left, to help Wisconsin to its sixth straight victory.
Taylor made six free throws over the final minute, for the Badgers (18-5, 7-3 Big Ten), who overcame an early nine-point deficit.
Arkansas 82, No. 25 Vanderbilt 74: At Fayetteville, Ark., Ricky Scott scored 18 points and Arkansas equaled its Southeastern Conference-best with nine three-pointers.
Five players scored in double figures for the Razorbacks (16-6, 4-3), who improved to 16-0 in Bud Walton Arena this season. Julysses Nobles added 17 points for Arkansas.

Northern Iowa 58, Southern Illinois 49: At Cedar Falls, Iowa, Deon Mitchell scored 17 points and keyed a go-ahead rally late in the game as Northern Iowa defeated Southern Illinois.
Chip Rank added 13 points, including two three-pointers, as the Panthers (15-9, 5-7 Missouri Valley) snapped a two-game losing streak.
Jeff Early’s 13 points led the Salukis (7-16, 4-8), who have lost five of their last six.
Mamadou Seck had 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
Mitchell’s 3-pointer put Northern Iowa ahead 41-39 with 6:44 left, giving the Panthers their first lead of the second half. That started a spurt in which Mitchell and Johnny Moran combined for the Panthers’ next 14 points, creating a 52-47 edge with 3:38 to go.
Northern Iowa endured a scoreless streak of 6:56 in the first half and trailed 22-19 at the break.
The Panthers have won seven of the teams’ last eight meetings.
