EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) — A southwestern Illinois teenager and her boyfriend are jailed on $1 million bond apiece after being accused of planning and carrying out the shooting death of the girl's father.

Prosecutors in St. Clair County charged both 18-year-old Chasity Butler and 20-year-old Devin Teer with first-degree murder.

Investigators say 38-year-old Chadwick Butler was repeatedly shot early Wednesday after he stepped from his East St. Louis home. Butler later died at a hospital.

Authorities allege Teer shot the victim after the daughter alerted the boyfriend that her father was leaving the home.

Teer doesn't have a listed home telephone number. Calls to the Butler home were greeted by an answering machine that wouldn't allow messages to be left. Online court records don't show whether the defendants have attorneys.
