CHICAGO (AP) – Two toddlers are in state custody after being dropped off on a chilly Chicago street.

Police say a white minivan left the boy and girl on a South Side street Friday. It's believed that the children are about two years old.

Police News Affairs officer John Mirabelli says officers have contacted the children's parents and a day care facility to determine who dropped the children off and why.

The children were in the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services Saturday as the investigation continues.
