McConnaughay wins backing from Roskam
EAST DUNDEE – U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam, R-Wheaton, believes that Kane County Board Chairman Karen McConnaughay is the right person to help steer Illinois out of rough financial waters.
Roskam on Friday endorsed McConnaughay, of St. Charles, in her race against Cliff Surges, of Gilberts, in the Republican primary for the 33rd State Senate seat. No Democratic candidates filed to be on the ballot for the March 20 primary election in the district, which includes parts of Crystal Lake, Huntley and the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills area.
"She can lead in a time of real fiscal challenge," Roskam said. "Springfield needs every bit of brightness it can possibly get right now."
