LAKE BARRINGTON – Two Barrington men are in critical condition after they were involved in a car accident Wednesday morning at the intersection of Route 14 and Cuba Road.

Shortly before 7:45 a.m., Joseph Fiedler, 24, was driving a 2004 Nissan, along with passenger Kirk Breneisen, 23, northwest along Route 14.

Fiedler was trying to turn left onto Cuba Road when Andrea Dotoli, 31, of Cary, who was driving a 2006 Volkswagen, crashed into the Nissan’s passenger side.

Breneisen was freed from the vehicle and flown by Flight for Life to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with major traumatic injuries to his entire body, said Lt. Christopher Thompson of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Breneisen was listed in critical condition.

Fiedler was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd in Barrington, where he was listed in critical condition, hospital spokeswoman Ro Ostergaard said.

Dotoli was treated at the scene and released.

The road was reopened to traffic about 9:30 a.m.

Thompson said citations more than likely will be issued, but the accident remains under investigation.

There was no indication of drugs or alcohol at the scene, Thompson said.
