CHICAGO – After 14 years in the big leagues, Cubs reliever Kerry Wood is retiring today according to reports.
Wood has struggles all season long especially following a stint on the disabled list with right shoulder fatigue. He is 0-2 this season with an 8.64 ERA in 8 1/3 innings pitched. In nine appearances Wood has given up eight earned runs, walking 11 batters and striking out five.
Wood is 86-75 with a 3.67 ERA in his career that includes 12 years with the Cubs, two with the Indians and one year with the Yankees.
