The McHenry County Republican Party is under attack by right-wing zealots led by former state Rep. Cal Skinner.

Skinner recruited a candidate he hopes to be appointed by the Republicans to run for state representative. The county GOP interviewed Ms. Tonya Franklin and then rejected placing her on the ballot because she is not only wholly unqualified for the position, but also because her views are extreme. Franklin could have run in the primary, but instead took the easy way out, and now is demanding to become the new face of the GOP.
