Lawmakers plan $1.3B trim to state bills backlog
CHAMPAIGN – Illinois lawmakers plan to cut the state's $8.5 billion backlog of unpaid bills by $1.3 billion, but it's coming too late for some.
The Chicago-based Counseling Center of Lake View is shutting down.
Lake View Executive Director Sharon Kayser says waiting months for state money to arrive and years of state funding cuts led the center to close in April.
