Scavenger hunt to promote bike trails

CRYSTAL LAKE – The city will host a bicycle scavenger hunt month to promote its bike trails. Participants will follow clues to various locations in the city.

The free scavenger hunt will be from 1 to 4 p.m. June 24 at Main Beach, 300 Lake Shore Drive, Crystal Lake. Registration will begin at noon.

The event will raise awareness about the city’s trails as part of Crystal Lake’s continuing effort to become more bike-friendly, said Steve Fuller, chairman of Crystal Lake’s Ad Hoc Clean Air Counts Advisory Committee. The committee worked with the Crystal Lake Park District to plan the event. More than 100 people attended a bike event organized by the committee last year. Fuller hopes to have more participants this year.
