Lighting, lane shifts come to widening of Rakow Road

CRYSTAL LAKE – Crews working on Rakow Road are preparing to put up lights, pour asphalt for new lanes and open a bicycle bridge spanning the road in the coming weeks.

The Rakow Road project is more than halfway done, but drivers who use it each day probably won’t see much congestion relief until two lanes are opened in each direction.

The project should be completed, with all lanes open, by Nov. 30, said Darren Franzen, assistant resident engineer for Bollinger, Lach & Associates, the engineering firm heading up the project.
