CARY – Members of the Cary United Methodist Church are scheduled to head to South Dakota this weekend for a week-long mission trip.
The mission trip members are scheduled to leave Saturday for a trip to the Lakota Reservation.
Mission trip members will live and work on the reservation for a week and will deliver clothes and supplies to the Tree of Life organization, which coordinates church group visits.
Group members will have a chance to work in a variety of areas including repairing homes, making clothes, and working with youth and elderly, the church said in a news release.
"It is a rewarding experience and allows us to give back to the native people who once owned the land we live on now," said Kurt Moreland, assistant trip planner. "The trip serves a dual purpose as many of our youth come back with a new appreciation of what we have here in McHenry County."
