Uninformed about teachers
To the Editor:
As a retired teacher of 18 years, after reading Richard Wagner’s comments on June 11 about teachers having all the benefits and a “part-time job,” I had to answer to this uninformed individual who is among many I’ve had to listen to for all of these years in education.
Until recent years, most teachers had to find work in the summer to supplement their salaries. Do people like this understand that when the school bell rings at 3:30 p.m., the working day is not over for most teachers.
