Evanston woman leaves $1.5 million to hospital

An Evanston woman who died at the age of 105 has left a $1.5 million gift to Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

Marie Beckort McClanahan graduated from Brokaw School of Nursing in 1928. That school was affiliated with Brokaw Hospital, which was a predecessor of Advocate BroMenn.

Officials at the central Illinois hospital announced Wednesday that McClanahan's gift will be used to help pay for the medical center's soon-to-open building addition.
