Man arrested in theft of 2 bronze statues
WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) — A man has been arrested for the theft of two statues from the Waukegan Public Library. However there is no chance the artwork will be recovered.
According to Waukegan police, the bronze statues "Little Scholar" and "Imagine That" have been melted down for scrap.
Waukegan Police Chief Daniel Greathouse says an anonymous tip led to 30-year-old Daniel R. Ramos of Chicago, who is charged with one count of felony theft from a government property. He is being held at the Lake County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
