Peterson: Beyond the labels, there is a person

I have a confession to make: I have always wanted to use handicapped parking spaces, mostly out of laziness.

I could pull up to any store and find an ideal parking space ... if only I had that blue placard hanging on my rearview mirror.

And I’m not the only person to want great parking. I’ve read stories about people renting their placards to others attending, oh, Notre Dame football games. Primo parking for several hundred dollars. Probably happens everywhere.
