Cubs go for sweep against White Sox

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

CHICAGO – For the first time since 2007, the Cubs are trying to sweep the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field.

Randy Wells (1-1, 4.50 ERA) starts in place of injured Ryan Dempster while the Sox send Gavin Floyd (4-7, 5.63) to the mound. Wells is 1-2 with a 6.38 ERA in three career starts against the White Sox. In four career starts versus the Cubs, Floyd is 0-3 with a 3.67 ERA.

Eduardo Escobar starts at third base tonight in place of Orlando Hudson after his throwing error last night led to the Cubs' only runs in a Sox loss. Manager Robin Ventura said Hudson is getting a mental day off and Escobar is not supplanting him from the starter role.
