JOLIET, Ill. — A judge has sentenced a suburban Chicago man to 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to attempting to solicit men to provide their daughters for sex.
Brandon Bergthold of unincorporated Frankfort Square pleaded guilty Tuesday to indecent solicitation of a child. He was charged in January with two counts of indecent solicitation of a child and one count of traveling to meet a minor. The charges were dismissed in exchange for his guilty plea.
The investigation was launched in November after a sheriff's deputy monitoring a sexually-oriented website noticed an individual using the site to arrange for meetings with fathers willing to share their daughters.
After determining the individual was Bergthold, the investigator contacted him while posing as a father willing to allow access to his 6-year-old daughter.
