Where’s his conscience?
To the Editor:
That was an excellent editorial (“State must stop game,” June 17). How can the present governor look at us with a straight face? Where in the heck is his conscience?
How can we keep the pressure on? Is it impossible to pressure him to undue his appointments? The politicians seem to live by the assumption that these revelations will blow over. So far, they seem to have been correct. It’s tremendously gratifying that we occasionally put one or two of them in the slammer; it’s tremendously horrific that George Ryan cannot apologize for the deaths by fire of children in a van on the highway. What a horrible way to die.
