Work aims to speed Wicker Street drainage

WOODSTOCK – There’s at least one person in McHenry County who’s not wishing for rain.

That’s because heavy rain floods North Wicker Street to the extent that some residents can’t leave their driveways.

“I know that we’re in a drought, but I’m kind of grateful for that,” said Nancy Birr, who lives at 1680 N. Wicker St. Flooding from heavy rain can be two to three feet deep, and while water hasn’t come into any one’s home, it comes over the curb of about six residences, she said.
