5 plead not guilty in Illinois restaurant attack
BRIDGEVIEW (AP) – Five Indiana men have pleaded not guilty to charges that accuse them of attacking a group of diners with metal batons and hammers at a suburban restaurant last month.
Attorneys entered the pleas on behalf of the men on Thursday and asked the court to appoint a new judge.
The SouthtownStar reports the presiding judge at the Cook County courthouse in Bridgeview appointed Judge Carmen Aguilar to handle their trials. She's a former Cook County prosecutor elected to the bench in 2009.
