Police investigate fatal shootings in Carpentersville
CARPENTERSVILLE – A 39-year-old Lake in the Hills man fatally shot a female acquaintance Friday night, then moments later shot himself in front of police officers.
The officers initially responded to a domestic disturbance report at 9:39 p.m. in the 0-100 block of Pueblo Road in Carpentersville of a man holding a gun and a domestic situation. When police arrived at the scene, they found a 39-year-old woman shot twice, according to Carpentersville police.
While investigating the scene, police received a call about 10 p.m. that the male suspect was at a friend's home in the 1500 block of Amarillo Drive. Moments later, police found Anthony Rodriguez holding a gun in the front yard of the home, police said.
As officers talked to Rodriguez, he shot himself one time and was sent to Sherman Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The woman's name has not been released, pending notification of family members. Police officials said they have no clear motive for the incident, but added the situation appeared to start from a domestic dispute.
The police investigation is ongoing. The Kane County Coroner's Office is handling both deaths.
