Favors roundabouts
To the Editor:
I am in support of roundabouts. They are logical, time-saving, fuel-conserving, and have worked well in Europe for generations. They would also remove the red light camera offenses resulting from an absence of traffic, causing a driver to not completely stop.
An additional irritation could be alleviated by the use of “yield” signs on residential streets. In the United Kingdom, the common practice is to place such a sign at a “T” intersection, where the side street joins the through street. There is no requirement to come to a stop but to yield the right of way to the through traffic.
