Immigration answers
To the Editor:
I have never before written a letter to the editor, but Ms. Sandralee Kazak has asked questions about immigrant children in the U.S. (It’s Your Write, June 22). I’m not an immigration lawyer, but this I do know.
It is mandatory that every child living in the U.S. attend school. The number of years varies by state. A birth certificate is required. Our public schools are financed mostly by taxes, which include income, sales and real estate taxes. This taxation applies to everyone who works here, owns property or buys merchandise.
