Residents unharmed after boat capsizes
McHENRY – Two residents walked away unscathed Sunday after the boat they were traveling on capsized along the Fox River, according to authorities.
A Johnsburg man was traveling north on the Fox River toward an inlet near the 2900 block of North Shorewood Drive in McHenry when he lost control of his 21-foot fishing boat, causing it to flip over, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
The operator of the boat and an occupant were able to escape the submerged vessel before emergency crews arrived.
Members of the McHenry Township Fire Protection District treated the boaters for minor injuries at the scene. Sheriff’s deputies assisted with the incident.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources Police is handling the investigation.
This is the fourth boating crash in less than two weeks along the Fox River.
