Hill Road bridge to remain closed

RICHMOND – The Hill Road bridge over Nippersink Creek just east of town will remain closed through spring.

Work to replace the bridge was supposed to take place this year, according to the McHenry County Division of Transportation. Procurement issues encountered by the Illinois Department of Transportation have resulted in the need to rebid the project.

The county closed the bridge in January because of a loss of structural integrity of deck beams and “significant” deterioration of pilings.

A detour takes drivers around the road through U.S. Route 12-Illinois Route 31 and North Solon Road.
