Inflated MCC numbers

To the Editor:

I did some ciphering on McHenry County growth to see who was right, McHenry County College at 3 percent or Mr. Steve Willson at 1.7 percent (June 14, It’s Your Write).

It seems Mr. Willson is right on the money with an average 1.7 percent growth between 2000-2010 and 2.6 percent between 1990-2010. He also is correct that MCC enrollment fell 4 percent from fall 2010 to fall 2011. What Mr. Willson did not mention and MCC conveniently failed to mention was that the era in question was a period when developers plundered McHenry County. There were developments everywhere, which caused a higher result in the growth numbers.
