Wonder Lake plans the works for July 4 holiday

WONDER LAKE – A “solemn and educational” ceremony will usher in the community’s Fourth of July celebration next week.

For years, Wonder Lake’s daylong Independence Day festivities featured a “Flag Retirement Ceremony” led by the Boy Scouts of Troop 456.

The ritual is meant to be respectful for the flag, said Matt Kempster, Troop 456 Scoutmaster.
