In response to a letter to the editor printed on June 22, District 47 will continue to examine and assess the manner in which we can operate efficiently in order to be responsible stewards of taxpayer resources.

Our air-conditioning systems do not run continually but rather operate as needed to attain the proper temperatures required to support summer cleaning initiatives as well as student activities, such as summer school and summer camps. Energy savings is an ongoing focus and is consistently incorporated into building projects while taking advantage of energy grants whenever possible.
