SWAT personnel find man dead in Algonquin residence
ALGONQUIN – A man died from an apparent suicide today in a situation that required a response from the county SWAT team, police said in a news release.
At 10:51 a.m., police responded to 901 Glacier Parkway for a report of a suicidal man who had barricaded himself in his residence with a gun, police said.
Algonquin secured the surrounding area and brought in extra assistance from the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System and the McHenry County Sheriff's Office SWAT team.
Officers heard three gunshots from the house, which led to the SWAT team using its negotiator robot to attempt to make contact with the man, police said.
SWAT personnel then entered the house and found the man dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
Algonquin Police Chief Russ Laine said no one else was in the house.
