Cary Park District cancels fireworks

CARY – The fireworks celebration scheduled for Tuesday has been cancelled because of extreme dry conditions, the park district said in a news release.

"Safety is the number one priority," said Dan Jones, executive director of the Cary Park District. "The decision to cancel the fireworks was a joint decision between the Cary Fire Protection District, police department, McHenry County Conservation District, and park district."

The fireworks display may be rescheduled later this summer, the park district said.

The concert featuring band 28 Days is still scheduled to take place from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Rotary Bandshell in Lions Park.
