To the Editor:
To everyone who lives in Del Webb, we all are familiar with the 500, for as you all know it’s the main street going through Del Webb Boulevard north to Main Street and Marengo Road. The speed limit is posted at 35 miles an hour, but much of the traffic travels from 35 to 55 mph.
Many people walk their dogs after 6 a.m., and that’s when the madness begins. Don’t try to cross the road then or you may become a statistic.
The local police department was notified several times and nothing was really done. There has to be a serious incident before anything will be done. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Department has jurisdiction from the intersection of Main and Marengo to Del Webb’s entrance.
There are three 35 mph signs posted going south and one going north. Several times signs have been knocked down at the intersection of Delaney and Hemmer roads in the past several months.
I don’t know if our association has anything to do with this, but maybe they can do something to protect our citizens. This has been an ongoing situation for many moons, and I think some people should get off their duffs and try to rectify this problem.
Maybe the mayor of our beautiful village can help, more signs or speed bumps or even possibly traffic enforcement from Huntley’s finest.
Another letter will be coming out soon in regard to Realtors working to help those folks getting ready to sell a property and how to protect your interests.
