The media have convinced us that the recession of 2008 (labeled The Great Recession) is the worst since the Great Depression. Allow me to provide some historic perspective.

When Republican Ronald Reagan inherited Democrat Jimmy Carter’s catastrophe, we had double-digit unemployment, double-digit inflation, and double-digit home mortgage interest rates. Add to all that, Reagan also was faced with a 444-day-old Iranian hostage crisis that Carter could not resolve. Note, the day Reagan came into the White House, the Iranians released our people. Why? They knew what Reagan would order to be done – no more talk, all action.
