Island Lake beach shut because of bacteria

WOODSTOCK – A beach in Island Lake has been closed and there is an advisory at Main Beach in Crystal Lake because of high bacteria levels, according to a news release from the McHenry County Department of Health.

The health department Monday conducted beach water samplings at 37 licensed beaches. Dorothy Court (211 Dorothy Court, Island Lake) was closed because of high bacteria levels; Main Beach in Crystal Lake (300 Lake Shore Drive) is on an advisory.

Both beaches were resampled Tuesday. All other beaches are open for the July 4 holiday.
