To the Editor:

Heads up, Cary residents! Did you know that the Cary Park District is seriously considering purchasing Chalet Hills Golf Course very soon? Why haven’t we heard about it? Because it’s being discussed by the Cary Park District Board behind closed doors. The park district already owns Foxford Hills Golf Course. Do we really need two park district golf courses in Cary, which also means they are off the tax rolls? How many golf courses do other park districts in communities the size of Cary own? Where’s the referendum?

With today’s high property taxes and residents struggling to make ends meet, how can the park district even consider such a senseless purchase – with taxpayer dollars? Wouldn’t it be better to use the money to further subsidize the park district fees Cary residents pay for services?
