Man charged with DUI on ATV
HARVARD – A Harvard man faces misdemeanor charges in connection with driving an all-terrain vehicle while drunk and with a 4-year-old boy as a passenger.
Steven K. Skodachek, 47, of 7912 Walker St., Harvard, was charged Tuesday with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol level of more than 0.08 percent, possession of marijuana, endangering the life of a child, driving an ATV on a roadway, and driving while his license was revoked.
McHenry County Sheriff's deputies saw the ATV headed east on Lawrence Road in unincorporated McHenry County near Lawrence, northwest of Harvard, according to a news release. The 4-year-old boy, who authorities said was directly related to Skodachek, was seen riding on the gas tank of the ATV. The boy wasn't wearing a helmet.
Deputies arrested Skodachek shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday and turned the boy over to his maternal grandmother. The Department of Children and Family Services was notified, according to the news release.
Skodachek was arrested in connection with driving under the influence in McHenry County in 2007, court records show.
He was released from jail Wednesday after posting bond. Skodachek is next due in court Aug. 8.
