Body of Illinois man found in Ohio River

GOLCONDA, Ill. — Authorities in far southern Illinois say they've recovered the body of a Golconda man from the Ohio River.

Pope County Sheriff Jerry Suits says a tow boat pilot found the body of 42-year-old Casey Chavez early Thursday. Officials said Chavez was swimming with two of his children Tuesday off Rondo Island when he dove into the river and didn't resurface. He disappeared between Golconda and Livingston County in Kentucky.

Several Illinois and Kentucky agencies were involved in the search for Chavez. The man's body was found just north of the Golconda Marina.
