Lombard man charged in murder-for-hire plot

CHICAGO – A Chicago-area man has been arrested in what the FBI says was a murder-for-hire plot to avoid paying an $8.2 million court judgment.

The FBI said in an email Saturday that 74-year-old Daniel Dvorkin, of Lombard, was charged with attempting to arrange for the murder of a plaintiff in a civil lawsuit filed against his Oakbrook Terrace real estate development firm, Dan Development Limited.

The FBI said Dvorkin met an unnamed person at Dvorkin's office, showed the person an order for his company to pay $8.2 million and indicated he wanted to avoid paying that sum.
