CHICAGO – Sen. Dick Durbin says Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. must give the public an update "soon" about the medical condition that has had him on leave for weeks.

The Senate's No. 2 Democrat said Monday he's concerned about his Illinois colleague but doesn't know the nature of Jackson's problem.

Jackson's office initially said the Chicago Democrat was being treated for exhaustion. But last week staff said Jackson's condition is more serious and requires inpatient medical treatment. A statement said Jackson also has been grappling with emotional issues.
