Teen killed when pickup truck hits his ATV

QUINCY, Ill. — Authorities say a western Illinois teenager was killed when the all-terrain vehicle he was driving was struck by a pickup truck.

Adams County authorities tell the Quincy Herald-Whig that 18-year-old Dakota Cantrell of Fowler died at a hospital shortly after the Friday accident.

Investigators say a 24-year-old Liberty man was driving the pickup truck that hit the ATV.

The truck's driver also was treated at a hospital. He's been cited for failing to reduce his speed to avoid an accident.

The crash continues to be under investigation.
