MARENGO – An Elgin man died early Friday morning following a rollover accident on Route 20, according to the Marengo Fire Protection District.

Emergency crews were called to the 6700 block of Route 20 in unincorporated Coral Township near West Union Road at around midnight for a report of a single-vehicle accident with entrapment, according to fire Cpt. John Kimmel.

Authorities arrived and found a construction van with heavy damage to the front end and a man unresponsive and trapped inside, Kimmel said. Personnel later gained access to the van through a side door.
