Bates: Fiesta Days activities continue in McHenry

This week is my favorite part of Fiesta Days. Much of the activity is centered in Veterans Memorial Park.

Tonight and tomorrow are two parks and recreation activities: the River Run starts at 5:45 today, and the Open Track Meet for children 7 to 14 is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Riverview Theatre presents Shakespeare’s "The Merry Wives of Windsor" at 7 p.m.

Fiesta Days Parade Marshal Dennis Conway will be honored at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Concert in the Park.

The Children’s Ice Cream Social starts at 3 p.m. Friday. A hand stamp for $5 entitles each child to unlimited games, inflatables, one ice cream cone and entertainment.

Arts and Crafts in the Park opens at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Entertainment will be provided by the Riverview Theatre.

Family Faith Nite will be held Saturday in Petersen Park. At 7 p.m. Bebo Norman will share his familiar Dove Award-winning songs..He will be preceded by Blacksmith Project and a free Kids Fest featuring inflatables, face painting, games and prizes.

Across town on Saturday, the chamber brings back the Drum and Bugle Corps Show at McHenry High School's West Campus. Tickets are $10.The show starts at 7 p.m.

The Fiesta Days Parade starts at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. There is still time to register for the parade, a free booth at the kid’s Ice cream social and a free both at Family Faith Nite.

Also, be sure to register for Steffan’s Jewelers' drawings for a diamond pendant. Visit www.steffansjewelers.com.

Other giveaways this weekend include Meijer’s $5 off coupons and Home State Bank's red applies for teachers given away during the parade.
