Bidding starts on assets seized in Dixon theft
CHICAGO – Law enforcement authorities are selling the first of a large group of assets seized from a former city comptroller in northern Illinois who is accused of stealing millions in public funds.
The U.S. Marshals Service said Friday it is accepting bids on a luxury motor home that belonged to Rita Crundwell.
The 59-year-old Dixon resident is accused of misappropriating more than $53 million since 1990 to help support a lavish lifestyle and her nationally renowned horse breeding operation. She has pleaded not guilty to wire fraud.
