Dog being investigated after second child attack in Johnsburg

JOHNSBURG – A dangerous dog investigation centers on a Great Dane that attacked two children on separate occasions over the past six months, according to McHenry County Animal Control.

The canine, named Marvin, most recently injured a 5-year-old boy who was riding his bicycle with his brother near the 6000 block of Saddle Ridge, Animal Control spokeswoman Debra Quackenbush said.

The boys were bicycling while their parents walked near the family home June 24 when the younger boy was knocked off his bicycle and mauled by the 2-year-old dog, said the boys’ mother, Kristi Centnarowicz. The child curled up into a ball, protecting his head and neck, but was bit on his arm, causing two puncture wounds and bruising near the elbow.
